The Pioneer Teacher of Reseaech: Hāfiz Mehmūd Sherānī

Abstract

Hafiz Mahmood Khan Shirani is considered the first mentor of research. He is an Indian researcher and poet during the British era. He is also the father of great Urdu romantic poet Akhter Shirani. Mahmood Shirani started the tradition of research in Urdu. He did not write any book on research but presented a sketch for the coming researchers. He was in favour of internal evidence in research. Internal evidence means to collect evidence from outside to prove internal validity. His notable research works are Majmooai Naghz, Shahnama Fidosi, Aabe Hiyat, Shair ul Ajm,Khaliq Bari and Prithvi Raj Rasa. In these works, he tried to prove otherwise the long established beliefs of people. He edited some books and published again with least errors. He reached the maximum primary as well as secondary sources to collect correct information. He didmaximum's not rely on a single source rather searched for maximum possible sources. Hafiz Mahmood Sherani research opened the way of research for the new researcher. After his work Punjab main Urdu, the research work was done Sindh main Urdu and Dakkan main Urdu. So Sherani is the pioneer in the field of research.
