The Rind and Lashar tribes are ancient Balochistan tribes with a long history of ruling the region. These tribes have played a significant role in expanding the territory of Balochistan. Originally settled in Kech Mekran, they eventually sought to establish new territories as their home. Finally, the day arrived when these tribes, led by determined chiefs, ventured out from Mekran and expanded into surrounding regions. The motivation for their migration can be attributed to a couple of factors. First, like many nations worldwide, the wealth and resources of India were appealing to these Baloch tribes. Another reason was the fertility of Sindh, a region that had been ruled by Central Asian powers. Despite facing adversity in the fifteenth century AD, Balochistan was saved from a major tragedy due to the strength of the Rind and Lashar tribes. Recognizing the precarious situation, these tribes decided to migrate from Mekran to conquer new territories. According to Baloch history and traditions, when Rind and Lashar arrived in Mekran in the thirteenth century AD, there were already 44 tribes, and many Baloch people had settled there. Over time, Arabs, Indians, Persians, and Mongols who came to Mekran assimilated with the Baloch population. The Rind and Lashar tribes experienced significant growth in the following centuries as many Baloch from Mekran joined their confederation. These Baloch tribes were known for their strength and martial prowess. This research article explores various reasons behind the migration of the Rind and Lashar tribes from Mekran.
