Abstract

The religion of Islam has distinction among all the religions of the world. Worship is given primary importance in Islam. Practices and ethics are also of prime importance in the religion. The concept of serving the people and public welfare is actually the basis of Islamic philosophy of human rights .Serving the people and public welfare has been given an important status by Allah and it is a duty that cannot be ignored. The concept of public welfare in Islam is the result of evolutionary process, but its history can be seen from the dawn of Islam itself. In relation to welfare works and human services, there is a practical example of Prophet Muhammad PBUH in front of us. It is a great tragedy that a large number of people in the world are not only living in fear but also deprived of basic facilities, so there is a need to work for welfare. This research paper highlights the importance of welfare in the light of Islamic teachings.Moreover welfare means in the present era is also focussed in the article.
