Abstract

This study investigates the detrimental effects of inequality within the Muslim family system using a research-oriented approach. The family, a cornerstone of human society, provides the framework upon which societal structures are built. Inequity and injustice within familial dynamics can breed feelings of resentment, insecurity, and tragically, may even lead to incidents such as suicides. Conversely, a commitment to justice and equality nurtures an environment of mutual protection and love among family members. The unequal distribution of inheritance within a family can incite feelings of animosity and hostility. Drawing upon primary sources of Islamic Sharia, the Islamic family system is depicted as advocating for a just and balanced approach. Conversely, unjust inheritance distribution perpetuates a cycle of injustice and oppression within the familial framework. This unfair norm destabilizes familial cohesion and weakens its foundational pillars. Islam underscores the importance of justice and equality within the familial structure, as expounded upon in this article. The discussion culminates in a summary of key points and offers recommendations for fostering a more equitable and harmonious family environment.
