Abstract

The concept of protecting language from misuse and ensuring its constructive utilization is defined as the preservation of language. Language serves as the conduit through which we articulate our innermost thoughts, convey divine messages, and express gratitude and counsel to Allah Almighty. It marks the distinction between humans and animals, yielding profound results when safeguarded and, conversely, inciting chaos when neglected. Language is the root cause of disputes, societal unrest, and divine retribution. The blessings bestowed by Allah are countless, as reflected in the Quranic verse, "And if you want to count the blessings of Allah, you will never be able to count them! Allah is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Surah Al-Nahl 18). Among these blessings, language stands out as a means of articulating our hearts and consciousness. The tongue, being the most unruly of human organs due to its ease of use, is identified as Satan's primary weapon against humanity. Islamic Shari'ah emphasizes its control as a pivotal aspect of ethical conduct. Additionally, the protection of the tongue is crucial because the words spoken are documented by angels, serving as a testimony on the Day of Judgment. Allah's words echo: "When two writing angels sitting on his right and left write everything, he does not utter a word, but there is a ready watcher with him." Reflecting on the Holy Qur'an, successful individuals are characterized by their avoidance of trivial pursuits and senseless talk. This underscores the significance of engaging in purposeful activities and refraining from idle chatter. The dangers of gossip, slander, mockery, and false praise are emphasized, highlighting the potential for grave sins to arise from such actions. In this context, a momentary lapse in verbal discretion can lead to dire consequences, reminding us that even a single misguided sentence has the power to alter one's eternal destiny.
