Abstract

Terrestrial life is a harmonious interplay of diverse elements, with the environment emerging as a pivotal factor alongside the bodies and souls of living organisms. The indispensability of the environment to life is irrefutable, drawing parallels to the body's emptiness without the soul, ultimately turning to dust—an analogy to death. Similarly, the degradation of the environment foretells the demise of terrestrial life, despite the continued movement of living beings. A better environment becomes the cornerstone for ensuring life on Earth. The often-overlooked Sunnahs of the Prophet (PBUH), typically perceived solely as conduits for rewards in the hereafter, extend beyond spiritual matters. Many teachings and initiatives serve as a curriculum for moral, social, and environmental reforms. The prophetic saying, "الطهور شطرالايمان" (Translation: Purity is half of faith), encapsulates a comprehensive guide for all-encompassing environmental stewardship. This involves physical purity and the purification of soil, air, water, heat, plants, and animals. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) advocated the pristine use of the earthly resources bestowed by Allah. The purity of the environment, as per the Prophet's teachings, fosters a life that is serene, comfortable, and healthy. Every Muslim is entrusted with the responsibility of contributing to environmental amelioration through faith, moral conduct, religious injunctions, and righteous deeds. Neglecting these responsibilities constitutes a transgression, particularly in the face of the escalating environmental pollution contributing to the spread of diseases in Pakistan. It is within this context that this research topic has been chosen, emphasizing the urgent need to address and rectify environmental challenges in light of the teachings of the Holy Prophet.
