Abstract

Water, a precious and essential gift from nature, sustains not only human life but also the existence of plants and animals, contributing to the aesthetic beauty of our surroundings. However, the indiscriminate misuse of water resources and contamination of water bodies pose significant threats, leading to the imminent risk of clean water scarcity. This issue is particularly pertinent in countries like Pakistan, where challenges such as water pollution and loss of clean water are becoming increasingly pronounced. Drawing inspiration from the Holy Quran and numerous hadiths, this article explores the Islamic perspective on water conservation and the prohibition of its wasteful use. The Quranic teachings explicitly condemn the wastage of water, emphasizing the responsibility placed on individuals to safeguard this precious resource. The Prophet of Islam ﷺ, through detailed guidance to his companions, provides a valuable blueprint for training individuals to appreciate the value and importance of water. This article delves into the causes, effects, and nature of water pollution, offering insights into remedial measures. By highlighting the teachings of Islam and the practical examples set by the Prophet ﷺ, it aims to contribute to a broader understanding of how to address the pressing issues of water pollution and wastage.
