Mulla Husayn Kashifi is a prominent commentator whose interpretations are strongly influenced by Sufi perspectives. However, he maintains a balance between the traditionalist and Sufi approaches by developing his own understanding rooted in the Hadith and Sunnah tradition. Early scholars exercise caution when interpreting verses containing the Huruf Muqattiat (disjoined letters) because these verses are not explicitly clarified in the Hadith tradition. As a result, they argue that interpretations should be withheld due to their ambiguous and uncertain nature. This paper aims to elucidate Mulla Husayn Kashifi's stance regarding the interpretation of these verses. He largely concurs with the early scholars, acknowledging that providing a definitive interpretation of these verses is challenging. Nevertheless, he supports the perspectives of later prominent scholars who have ventured to interpret these verses while also respecting the fundamental principle of the early scholars, who exercised caution when encountering doubtful and ambiguous elements (mutashabihat). This study serves to provide insight into Kashifi's position and his interpretation of the Huruf Muqattiat.
