Abstract

Rhetoric is the science that deserves the most important study in the Arabic studies and dramaturgy in the mid-nineteenth century came from the West, before it came to the Arabs, this art was well-known among the Arabs. Although they had plenty of material suitable for dramatization, it is for this reason that modern Arabic writers greatly developed this art. In this poetic play we will see the steadfastness and revolution of the people of Jerusalem in confronting the corruption and injustice of the Jews with eloquent sentences. News is a term: every sign that can be described as truthful or false is news we find in his poetic play, The Tragedy of Jerusalem, the news, which includes the meaning of sympathy, pity, and contempt. The purpose of the news was to give advice and guidance to the addressee, to challenge, to demonstrate satire, and it was intended to show pride and the meaning of astonishment, to mock the addressee, and to show integrity and sadness. The news included warning the addressee of a hateful matter to avoid it, showing happiness, warning of the addressee’s misguidance, showing courage, and inciting revolution, and these are the purposes that the play The Tragedy of Jerusalem includes.
